Shah Rukh Khan Reveals He Started Drinking After Devdas

In a producer event, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that “he started drinking alcohol even after the “Devdas” movie shoot was completed. This is not due to his spectacular acting abilities, stellar looks, and charismatic screen appearance, but also because of who he has chosen to be and not to be off-screen.

At the age of 58 and three decades after his film debut, the excitement in his eyes when taking on a new project remains infectious, sparking excitement in the eyes of everyone who watches him as well.

A total outsider, Shah Rukh Khan didn’t take over anybody else’s position of throne but built his own throne. In any case, his journey has not been free of distress. One of his most prominent laments is that his parents passed away before he made it huge in the movies. Whereas he has never missed an opportunity to conversation about them, he too has shared his pity over their absence during his rise to fame.

“A Conversation With King Khan”

Recently in an interview, he sat down for a conversation organized by the events producers. During the interview, he shared that he accepted the titular role in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’sDevdas” movie which was released in 2002, despite receiving advice against it from many veterans, simply because he believed his mother would have liked it.

King Khan also admitted that he was quite anxious while filming Devdas, even turning to alcohol while playing the character. When asked if it helped, Shah Rukh replied with his trademark humor “ Well I got the Best Actor Award for that and it might helped, but I started drinking even after the film was over and that’s one downside to it”

Later he added in the conversation “If I made Devdas, my mother would like it and appreciate me for the role. Reflection on a rendition of the character Shah Rukh said he portrayed Devdas not as a loser but as a non-communicating man with no reason to be that way. He further said “I’m not telling you to love the character but don’t hate him also, nor did I want you to like him for benign an alcoholic who runs away from every girl that he falls in love with”
